The Holy Trinity Explained

This morning I had the unenviable task of explaining the Trinity to my first-year religion class. They didn’t seem much impressed by St. Patrick’s demonstration with the shamrock, so I had to try another approach.

I wrote on the board:

Trinity1

Underneath it, I wrote:

Trinity2

And, finally, my coup de grace:

Trinity3

After puzzling over the diagram on the board for a few seconds, one of my students piped up, “We love you too, Kensy!”

Awww…

Wherever there is love, there is a trinity: a lover, a beloved, and a fountain of love.
-- St. Augustine (354-430)
